New Weight Watchers Plan: More Zero Point Foods! (WW 2025)
Everything you need to know about the new Weight Watchers® program and WW Points™ for 2025. Learn about the new plan, new zero points food list, and personalized approach to daily allowances, activity points, and more.
Weight Watchers® is rolling out a new plan for 2025 with some exciting updates to its ZeroPoint® food list. The changes include a wider variety of lean meats, including lean beef, lean pork, dark meat chicken, and all 90%-99% lean ground meats. Other additions to the ZeroPoint foods list include oats, potatoes, sweet potatoes, parsnips, hominy, popcorn, and more.
It's a great time to be a WW member with so many new ZeroPoint options!
What’s New in 2025?
Weight Watchers® regularly updates its plan every few years, and the 2025 changes are no exception. Like many WW members, I’m curious, excited, and a bit nervous about how these changes will impact our healthy eating and weight loss goals. Change can be challenging, but with all these new zero point foods, I think most members will be excited to embrace more variety!
The 2025 WW plan includes more ZeroPoint foods, but unlike past updates, your daily and weekly point allowances will remain mostly the same. WW continues to encourage eating more lean proteins, vegetables, and fruits, and with the expanded list, it will be easier than ever to follow the plan. Personally, I am excited for this update!
In addition to the food updates, there are also some fun new features in the WW app. You can now track macronutrients, including protein, carbs, fat, fiber, and sodium. You’ll also be able to import recipes from other websites and photo scan your food for point estimates.
New ZeroPoint® Food List
This is the biggest change to the WW plan! There are now so many zero point foods to choose form!
- Oats: Includes old-fashioned oats, quick-cooking oats, instant oats, and steel-cut oats. Note that oat flour is not included.
- Potatoes: All types of potatoes, including sweet potatoes, white potatoes, red potatoes, and more.
- Starchy Vegetables: This includes parsnips, yuca, squash, and other starchy veggies that previously had points.
- Boneless, Skinless Dark Meat Chicken and Turkey: Includes thighs, legs, and any ground chicken or turkey that is at least 90% lean.
- Lean Beef: Includes cuts like flank steak, NY strip, filet mignon, and ground beef that is at least 90% lean (as long as visible fat is trimmed).
- Lean Pork: Includes pork tenderloin, center rib chops, loin chops, sirloin, and ground pork that is at least 90% lean.
- Other Lean Meats: Bison, lamb, goat, elk, veal, venison, and rabbit, as long as the cuts are lean and the ground meat is at least 90% lean.
- Diabetic Plan Exceptions: Potatoes and oats are not included in the diabetic plan.
This list is in addition to all the previously included ZeroPoint foods such as fruits, vegetables, fat-free dairy (yogurt, cottage cheese, milk), corn, fish, shellfish, beans, lentils, peas, tofu, and tempeh. However, some foods like avocado, brown rice, quinoa, and other whole grains are no longer included.
New Features
- Macro Tracking: WW now lets you track macronutrients (protein, fat, carbs, fiber, and sodium) within the app. Soon, this will include specific targets for users working towards macro goals.
- Meet with a Dietitian: WW now helps members book appointments with registered dietitians through the app, and will assist with checking if insurance covers the visits.
- Import Recipes: You can now import recipes from the web directly into the app, making it easier to track meals (though the feature isn't perfect yet, it’s still a big time-saver).
We will continue to update this article as more details emerge about the new Weight Watchers plan. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
What Happens to the Old Plan?
Since the changes mostly expand the list of ZeroPoint foods and introduce new app features, the plan itself remains largely the same. Unfortunately, if you prefer the older version of the plan, there’s no way to keep using it—the updates will apply to all users.
When Does the New WW Plan Launch?
The new WW plan launched this week in the United States and will automatically update in your app. If you don’t see the update, make sure your WW app is updated in the app store.
How Will Recipes Work with the New ZeroPoint® Foods?
If you’ve entered your own recipes into the WW app, they will automatically update to reflect the new points value based on the expanded ZeroPoint foods list. For websites like Slender Kitchen, we’re working to update all of our recipes to reflect the new ZeroPoint foods. Soon, all our recipes—especially those for beef, pork, potatoes, oatmeal, and chicken thighs—will be updated to reflect the new points.
How WW® Works: A Quick Overview
If you're looking for a flexible, science-backed program to help you lose weight while building healthier habits, WW (formerly Weight Watchers) might be the perfect fit for your lifestyle.
- Personalized Plans: WW creates a tailored weight-loss plan based on your goals, lifestyle, and preferences, including daily and weekly point budgets.
- Points System: Foods are assigned point values based on calories, protein, fat, and fiber. Healthier foods have fewer points, and higher-calorie foods have more.
- ZeroPoint® Foods: Certain foods like fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins are ZeroPoint, meaning they don’t count against your daily budget.
- Tracking Tools: Use the WW app to log meals, track points, and monitor progress. The app also syncs with fitness devices to track activity points.
- Behavioral Guidance: WW helps build healthier habits with science-backed strategies, including managing emotional eating and mindfulness.
- Community Support: Join in-person or virtual workshops and connect with members through the app for encouragement and accountability.
- Expert Coaching: WW offers optional coaching with trained guides and dietitians for personalized support.
- Flexibility: WW is designed to adapt to your lifestyle, allowing occasional indulgences while staying within your points budget.
