These Cheeseburger Wraps are taking our kitchen by storm as one of our favorite quick and easy dinners. I mean what's not to like about a cheeseburger with all the fixings grilled in a crispy, crunchy tortilla or low-carb wrap? Serve these burger wraps with some crispy Baked Onion Rings, Skinny Fries, or Carrot Fries for the perfect meal.
I don't even know where to start with today's Grilled Cheeseburger Wrap because we love it so much. The inspiration came from a local restaurant that has a pressed cheeseburger sandwich that is insanely delicious and insanely indulgent.
From the first bite, I knew I wanted to create a healthier version at home but first I needed to do a bit of investigating to learn how they flavored their beef. Turns out they add the condiments right into the beef - ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce - and the resulting flavor is spot on. Pretty genius right? So I did the same and added everything right into the ground beef once it was browned.
From there, it's easy. Add your favorite toppings, wrap it up in a tortilla or low-carb wrap, and grill it until crispy in a hot skillet. Kind of like a cheeseburger crunch wrap! Yum.

Ingredients and Substitutions
Here is everything you need to make these wraps, plus substitutions to fit different dietary needs and preferences.
- Ground beef: To keep things on the lighter side, normally I use 95% lean ground beef for these wraps but any type of ground beef works. Or swap in ground chicken, ground turkey, or vegetarian ground meat.
- Cheese: Use any cheese you like to make these burger wraps. Our favorites include cheddar cheese, gouda, Swiss cheese, pepper jack, blue cheese, provolone, or American cheese. Or skip the cheese if you want a dairy-free option.
- Seasoning: The secret to creating juicy ground beef for these burger wraps is adding diced onions, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper right to the ground meat. Feel free to play around with the seasoning adding spices like garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, chili powder, or burger seasoning.
- Wraps: Make these burgers with any type of larger wrap you like including flour tortillas, low-carb wraps, or low-carb tortillas. Make sure to choose something soft and pliable that won't tear or rip.
- Toppings: We made our wraps with classic toppings including lettuce, tomatoes, and dill pickles. However, the options are endless here and you can add everything from burger classics like grilled onions, mushrooms, thousand islanding dressing, and bacon to more creative options like guacamole, pickled onions, buffalo sauce, and more.
How to Make a Burger Wrap
Follow these easy steps to make these burgers in just 20 minutes.
1. Cook the burger filling
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the diced onions and ground beef. Cook for 6-8 minutes, breaking up the meat as it cooks with a wooden spoon.
Once the beef is fully cooked, stir in the ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Taste and season as needed.
2. Make the wraps - Burritos or Crunchwraps
There are two ways to make these wraps, either burrito-style or crunch wrap style. You could also fold them like a quesadilla, but you may need to add a little extra cheese so the toppings don't slide out.
To make it like a burrito, start by adding cheese to the center of the tortilla. Then add the ground beef and sprinkle with pickles, tomatoes, and any other toppings you like. Fold in the sides and then roll to close.
To make it like a crunch wrap, start by taking on one edge of the tortilla and fold this edge up to the center of the filling. Then moving around the tortilla in a circular motion, take the next edge and repeat. Continue folding in until the entire tortilla is folded in the shape of a hexagon.
3. Cook in a skillet or air fryer
There are a few different ways to grill these burger wraps to create that delicious crispy, golden brown exterior. The easiest option is to coat a large skillet with oil, butter, or cooking spray. Once hot, add the wrap and cook for a couple of minutes on each side until it is golden brown and crispy.
To cook in an air fryer, preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees. Then add the cheeseburger wraps and cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown on both sides. Depending on your air fryer, you may need to flip halfway through.
What to Serve with Cheeseburger Wraps
While this could serve as a dinner or lunch on its own, everything is more fun with side dishes. Here are some of our favorites:
- Salads: Since this recipe doesn't have a ton of veggies, I almost always make a green salad to go on the side. Something simple with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and this Skinny Ranch.
- Fries: French fries are always a great option for burgers. You can make baked fries with almost anything from zucchini to green beans to butternut squash.
- Onion Rings: When it comes to burgers, my all-time favorite side dish is onion rings and these Crispy Onion Straws are so good.
- Veggies: For something quick and easy, consider serving it with some cut-up raw veggies and fruit. This is something we do for the kids often.
- Baked chips: For something crunchy, grab some baked chips at the grocery store.
Topping and Flavor Ideas
There are so many ways to switch up these burgers and create different flavors.
- Taco burger wraps: Season the ground meat with taco seasoning. Then add avocado or guacamole, pepper jack cheese, pickled onions, and pico de gallo. This is the most similar to a classic crunchwrap.
- Burger sauce: Serve these with classic burger sauce on the side. Make it by combining 1/4 cup mayo, 2 tbsp Greek yogurt, 2 tbsp ketchup, 1 tbsp mustard, 1 tbsp sweet relish, 1/2 tsp paprika, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Bacon and fig jam: Add a few strips of diced bacon to the burger mix. Then add a thin layer of fig jam to the tortillas. Layer in fresh arugula, red onions, and some crumbled goat cheese.
- Cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce: Instead of ketchup and mustard, add your favorite barbecue sauce to the burger mixture. Layer in cheddar cheese and grilled onions.
Tips and Recipe Ideas
Here are some easy ways to customize these burger wraps.
- Change the protein: While I normally reach for beef, you can use ground turkey, chicken, buffalo, or pork. You'll be shocked at how much flavor the ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce add and the moisture will also help drier meats, like ground turkey breast, stay tender.
- Toppings: For some reason, I am a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to this burger wrap and stick to the basics - ketchup, yellow mustard, onions, pickles, tomatoes, and cheese. However, you should push the boundaries here and load in all your favorite toppings. Diced jalapenos would be delicious, try out goat or blue cheese, toss in some diced bacon, or add barbecue sauce instead of ketchup. You can basically mimic almost any burger flavor you enjoy.
- Add lettuce after cooking: Since you are cooking all the toppings inside the tortilla shell, I like to add the lettuce on top since I am not a huge fan of warm lettuce. Plus it looks pretty piled high on top for serving. If you don't mind if the lettuce gets a little warm, toss it inside for a cleaner, easier-to-eat wrap.
- Vegetarian: For a vegetarian version, use vegetarian crumbles. Just make sure to warm them through completely and drain any excess moisture. If the filling is too moist, it will cause the wrap to burst open.
- Make sure not to overfill: Although it's tempting, don't overfill your wraps. It will cause the crunchy shell to burst open and you'll lose all the yummy filling in the pan.
- Interactive dinner: For a fun family dinner, let everyone build their own burger wraps and then grill them up.
Storage and Leftovers
These cheeseburger wraps are best served fresh so to enjoy the golden brown, crispy tortilla. If you want to prep them in advance, make the burger filling and then simply assemble when its time to eat.
The burger meat can also be prepped in advance and stored in the freezer for up to 3 months in an airtight container.
